This guide will walk you through setting printers' firmware to use a non-Google DNS. The Grubhub for Campus Cloud Printers comes pre-configured to use Google’s DNS (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) to resolve to our Cloud Printer URL (https://cloudprint-spooler.tapingo.com/). If you are not able to use Google’s DNS and need to use your own, please follow these steps to update each of your printer’s firmware so that you can change their DNS.
Configurations:
-
Connect the laptop to the same network the printer is connected to, and in a browser, type in the IP address currently assigned to the printer (ex.192.168.128.154). You can obtain this by printing a configuration page.
-
You will see the printer’s network utility dashboard:
-
Contact Support at (888)827-5055 or onsitesupport@grubhub.com for login information.
-
Click “Firmware Update” on the left navigation and you will be brought here:
-
Download the new firmware file from the "Check for updates" button.
-
It will start checking for updates and then it will start downloading it. It could take a few minutes for it to download.
-
After the printer updates, the printer will reboot itself as the firmware is updated. You will see this status message in your browser:
-
Once the update is complete, you will need to log back into the dashboard using the same credentials.
-
Click “System Configuration” in the left navigation.
-
Scroll down to the bottom and enter in your DNS:
-
Here you can configure 3 DNS servers at once, the first taking highest priority, with the other 2 serving as fail-safes if the first one fails.
-
Click “Submit” and then click “Save” on the next screen, at the bottom.
-
The printers will also need to reach https://cloudprint-spooler.tapingo.com/ in order to pull orders from the Grubhub system:
-
Click https://cloudprint-spooler.tapingo.com/health/check from your laptop while it’s either connected to the same network as the printer or plugged into the printer’s port, to see if this connection is in place. If it is, you’ll see this result:
